Balotelli linked with move back to Serie A

Balotelli V Arsenal

Mario Balotelli has been linked with a move away from England and back to Serie A but is this any real surprise?

You cannot argue against the fact that Mario Balotelli is brilliant entertainment if you’re not a supporter of Manchester City. Sometimes brilliant on the pitch yet off it he sets off fireworks in his own bathroom. This is the sort of balance that drives managers mad and it’s no real surprise that he has been linked with a move on.

There are certain players who just get moved on from club to club throughout their career and Balotelli looks as though he is going to be one of them. Roberto Mancini has come out and said his player won’t be going anywhere but how long will it be before Mancini cracks in terms of their relationship?

Mancini recently said that Balotelli could be as good as Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi if he applied himself in the right way but he has been brought up on huge contracts and plenty of limelight which suggests he’s not going to change, certainly as he goes through the early part of his 20s.

There are certain things in a player that managers don’t like and Balotelli has many of them. Remember that Mancini has experience of Balotelli when he was even younger during his time as manager of Inter Milan so the only reason he may be at city could be the fact that Mancini has learnt how to tolerate the unpredictable Italian. Would Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger have settled for his antics? It’s highly unlikely.

This is something Balotelli has to be very careful about personally because he could get into a similar situation that Carlos Tevez recently found himself in. Tevez tried to move on from Manchester City but there were few clubs seriously interested in signing him, most likely based on his past; there is a reason Ferguson didn’t offer him a long term contract.

Balotelli could move back to Serie A, into La Liga, over to the Bundesliga and back to the Premier League and very few in the game would be surprised. He doesn’t seem the sort of player who will settle anywhere for a Ryan Giggs amount of time. It may all seem very rosy at the moment but the club could quickly shift him on if Mancini left or if he demanded a ridiculous contract when the talks about renewal come along.

It’s a shame because he is a very talented football player. He is one of the best strikers that City have in a number of roles but his personality is not going to change because he’s enjoyed money and privilege from a very young age, mix that in with someone who isn’t completely responsible and it’s asking for disaster.
