Could this be Liverpool's January business plan? HITC have an insider scoop on Rodgers' potential transfer deals, including Sturridge, Walcott and Ba, you can read it here, and below see how the national newspapers are discussing the deals.

The Metro say Liverpool could be set to pounce for Newcastle United striker Demba Ba if Newcastle cannot tie him down to a new contract. Ba has a clause in his current deal which will allow Liverpool to buy his contract for a fee of just over £7 million, half of what the club are reportedly happy to spend on Daniel Sturridge.

The agent of Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has rubbished reports a deal has fallen through because he asked for too much mone, say the Mirror. Reports suggest that Sturridge asked for around £80,000 per week to play for the club which is a substantial pay increase on what he currently earns at Chelsea - However Sturridge's advisors have publicly denied this.

West Brom manager Steve Clarke has rubbished speculation linking Liverpool with a £12 million bid for Shane Long. Reports started to emerge yesterday that Liverpool were considering a deal for the Republic of Ireland forward but Clarke says there is nothing in the stories.

Liverpool will not sign Barcelona striker Cristian Tello in January. The young forward has just signed a new contract with the Spanish giants which ensures he will not be going anywhere in the New Year despite several stories linking him with a move away from the Nou Camp.

Former Liverpool front man Fernando Torres has hit out at critics saying his decision to join Chelsea has been vindicated by the trophies he has won with the club. Torres’ departure has never sat right with Liverpool fans who have piled on the misery as Torres struggles for goals in a Chelsea shirt.

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger says the team is growing in confidence with every match that passes under Brendan Rodgers. Agger says the players feel united and confident across all competitions this season with a complete transformation in the way the club is handled and run.

Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey says he would play in any position for the Anfield club. Shelvey has been utilised in a number of different roles this season and he says he would do whatever Brendan Rodgers said because of the calibre and the status that the club enjoys.
