Rafa Benitez has again backed Fernando Torres to turn his Chelsea fortunes around, saying that the striker has been scoring plenty of goals in training, and even praising his clearances from West Ham’s corners. Torres’s travails have continued despite Benitez’s appointment at Chelsea, with the striker yet to score in three games under the new manager.
Torres himself has spoken about his time at Chelsea today, saying he came to win trophies and has done so, winning the FA cup and the Champions League last season. He also reiterated his desire to win more trophies at Chelsea, and to stay at the club for the length of his contract:
“We have a chance now to win the Club World Cup. I have four more years on my contract, hopefully in these four years I can win many more things than the Champions League and FA Cup, starting with the Club World Cup."

Chelsea re reportedly hoping to bring the former Barcelona manager in next year, once his sabbatical is over.
Whilst there is constant speculation about the next Blues boss, Juan Mata has backed the current one to turn the club around. Whilst Chelsea fans have voiced plenty of anger at Benitez’s appointment, Mata believes he can help Chelsea win plenty of trophies this season.
In transfer news, Daniel Sturridge has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool today, with HITC’s Jenny Leigh reporting that the two clubs have unofficially agreed to a £12 millon deal. Elsewhere in the press rumours of Sturridge demanding an £80k a week salary have been denied.
In other Blues striker news, Rafa Benitez has seemingly ruled out recalling Romelu Lukaku from West Brom in January. Despite Chelsea’s lack of firepower in recent weeks, Benitez believes his development will be best aided by staying at the Hawthorns.
