6. 1945 - A U.S. Navy Avenger torpedo bomber aircraft is lost In the Bermuda Triangle

7. 1961 - Adolf Eichmann is sentenced to death by an Israeli court for organizing the deportation of Jews to concentration camps

8. 1977 - Egypt severs ties with Arab hardliners - President Anwar al-Sadat of Egypt breaks all relations with Syria, Libya, Algeria and South Yemen

9. 1989 - British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher defeats Sir Anthony Meyer in the first challenge to her leadership of the Conservative Party

10. 1991 - The Maxwell empire collapses with debts of £1.4bn, as the late Robert Maxwell's sons concede they are unable to organise a rescue package for the family's private companies

11. 2008 - O.J. Simpson, who was acquitted of double murder in Los Angeles a few years back, is sentenced for up to thirty-three years in prison for robbing a pair of memorabilia dealers
