Who will Manchester City seek to bring in next month?
Here are Five Manchester City transfer rumours you may not have known about doing the rounds among fan communities ahead of the January transfer window.
Managerial – Klopp from Borussia Dortmund
Manchester City are being linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer. Klopp could be used to replace current manager Roberto Mancini as he enjoys an elevated profile having guided Dortmund to first place in a group that included City, Spanish champions Real Madrid and Dutch champions Ajax. Although Mancini has said he doesn’t feel under pressure Klopp has now become a coach who could be approached by any of the top teams in Europe.
Ashley Cole from Chelsea
Manchester City will act to poach Ashley Cole from under the noses of French giants Paris Saint-Germain. Cole’s mother spilt the beans over a proposed move to PSG but City are in line to make a shock move for the Chelsea left back with a deal that would match or even improve the offer in the table from the French club. The transition would be easy as Cole would stay in the Premier League.
Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund
Roberto Mancini is thought to have engineered scouting of Borussia Dortmund striker Mario Gotze. Manchester City could pay up to £23 million for the German striker who has played over 20 times for his country. Gotze played a starring role when Borussia Dortmund recently went to the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League. Dortmund are hailed as one of the most dangerous teams in Europe at the moment.
Arturo Vidal from Juventus
Arturo Vidal is reportedly being watched by Manchester City scouts ahead of an imminent bid either this January or this coming summer. Mancini is thought to have been an admirer of Vidal as he still keeps a close eye on Serie A and the key players at the top Italian sides. A figure has not yet been mentioned but the 25-year-old could be in line to replace Edin Dzeko or Mario Balotelli.
Iker Muniain from Athletic Bilbao
Athletic Bilbao striker Iker Muniain could choose Manchester City over Manchester United if he decides to move to the Premier League. Muniain is valued at around £30 million which United refused to pay last summer meaning City could invest in the youngster if they decide to move on any of the attacking players they currently have at the club.
