Swansea v Norwich: Saturday's Head to head

Swansea Fans

Promoted together in 2011, Swansea and Norwich are both enjoying life in the Premier League. Both teams are in fine form ahead of Saturday's clash, and both will be hoping to secure all three points.

In their debut season in the top flight, they both displayed a lot of attacking football, and while Swansea have continued to attack this season, Norwich have firmed up their defence at the expense of fewer goals.

The teams have met 44 times, Swansea winning 19 of those matches whilst Norwich triumphant in 16. So who will come out on top this weekend ?

The Welsh club have gone seven matches unbeaten in all competitions, and confidence is high after a memorable win against Arsenal. While Norwich, who will be the visitors at Liberty Stadium, haven't lost in nine. So this is a tough one to call, even for a Swansea fan like me.

Despite being away from home, Norwich will be holding on to the thought that they did the double on Swansea last season, and will attempt to use this to their advantage.

The Jacks are sitting seventh in the table, five places ahead of their opponents, and there's a distinct possibility that Swansea, if things continue as they are, could be looking at a place in Europe next season. A thought that will be spurring them on to grab all three points. No pressure then boys!

Here's some other stats to digest ahead of this weekend.

Swansea City

Michu is the third Spanish player to score double figure in goals in a PL season after Fernando Torres (24 in 2007-08, 18 in 2009-10, 14 in 2008-09, 10 in 2010-11) and Cesc Fabregas (15 in 2009-10).

Michu is also the quickest Spaniard to ever reach 10 PL goals for a new club (15 matches). It took Fernando Torres 18 matches at Liverpool.

Swansea won one and drew one of the two matches Howard Webb refereed last season.

Norwich City

Norwich’s last seven trips to Wales (Cardiff and Swansea), six in the Championship, have ended in four defeats, two wins and a draw.

Norwich has failed to win any of their last 10 PL away matches since beating Tottenham 2-1 in April, but have drawn their last four away from Carrow Road.

Grant Holt is Norwich’s top scorer, with three goals this season.
