Why Ryan Giggs merits consideration as Sir Alex's successor

Ryan Giggs

Who should be Manchester United's next manager? Paul Moore puts the case forward to Ryan Giggs.

When Sir Alex Ferguson does finally retire from the game it will be interesting to see who takes over the hot seat.

Will the board go for someone with vast experience or will they employ someone from within?

There is one player that has seen it all at Old Trafford and is loved by the fans but it’s a risk as he’s never done the job before.

I am of course talking about Ryan Giggs or Mr Manchester United as some fans call him.

There is no denying he will go down as a legend alongside Bobby Charlton and George Best; there are too many highlights in his playing career to put in this article.

The question is; would he take the most sought after job in football?

As a player he has never pulled out of a challenge and I very much doubt he’ll pull out of this.

He must have learnt so much from Sir Alex that surely it would be a case of carrying it on?

The saying is, ‘If it’s not broken then don’t fix it,’ and I’m sure Ryan is familiar with that.

What I would suggest is that he has a very strong and experienced coaching team behind him. A strong number two would be the only option to guide the Welshman along the way.

I would suggest either Bryan Robson or Steve Bruce for the number two job; both experienced and both have the love for the world’s most famous football team.

I would have thought he’d bring in a few ex-team mates to fill a few roles but I’d suggest not changing too much or that could lead to trouble.

It would be interesting to find out if he’d be the ‘throwing the tea cup at the wall’ manager or the ‘quiet word in your ear’ type; I think he’d be a cross between the two!

The one thing that the fans would love is Giggs is ‘one of their own’ and his love and desire to win things with the Red Devils can never be questioned;

Whether he can do it as Manchester United manager is a question that may be one day will be answered.

Would United be brave enough to give the job to Giggs?
