All of the latest news connected to Liverpool FC.

Shane Long has played down speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool. The West Brom striker is thought to be the subject of a planned £12 million bid from Liverpool but he says he is focused on maintaining his early season form for the Baggies over the rest of the season.

Lord Herman Ouseley, chairman of the Kick It Out anti-racism campaign, has said Luis Suarez should have been sacked for racially abusing Patrice Evra last season. He has said football has a greater responsibility to deal with such matters in a greater way including firing any player found guilty of racial abuse.

Defender Glen Johnson has suggested the only way for Liverpool to enjoy a successful season is to start winning matches at Anfield. Liverpool have been inconsistent at home this season and Johnson says solid home form will enable a push for the Champions League.

Former England manager Glen Hoddle has suggested that Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling could be the real deal. Sterling has made a dramatic impact at the club since he was introduced to the first team by Brendan Rodgers at the start of the season and he has since made his debut for England.

Former Liverpool defender and assistant manager Phil Thompson says he expects Liverpool to push for the top four by the end of the season. He suggests Liverpool have the momentum needed to close the gap on the top four clubs which would give them a great chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

Liverpool are reported to be tracking Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz. Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he needs to bring in a striker to support Luis Suarez this January and Yilmaz may be available for a fee of around £10 million which is around half of what Rodgers will have to spend. The Reds were also linked with signing the Turk over the summer.

Further reports have emerged today linking Liverpool with Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez. Sanchez joined the Spanish giants in 2011 but has failed to hold down a regular first team place this season with reports confirming yesterday’s news that Liverpool are interested in signing him.

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic says he is flattered to be linked with a move to Liverpool. Recent reports have suggested that Brendan Rodgers will attempt to make Begovic a possible number one in place of Pepe Reina, whose form has dipped dramatically this season.
