Manchester City have identified Brazilian attacking midfielder Paulinho as the man ready to invigorate their title charge, write the Mirror. The attacker will be on show for Corinthians at the Club World Cup this week and is valued at around £12 million. With Yaya Toure set to depart for the African Nations Cup in the New Year it would make sense for City to look at their options and Paulinho appears fairly priced. The same paper claim Mario Balotelli will be loaned out to AC Milan, but the Sun counter this, saying Roberto Mancini is angry at the striker but will stick with him.
The Mirror are also reporting that Newcastle are ready to cash in on Demba Ba and replace him with Loic Remy. The Marseille striker is currently battling for the title in Ligue One and may have second thoughts about the Toon's lowly league position. Nevertheless the Ba news will interest Arsenal and Liverpool, and the word is that Newcastle will sell him early in January to give themselves replacement options in case the Remy deal does not work out.
The Mail are claiming Arsenal are considering Nani as a target in January. The winger's contract expires in 2013 and he is expected to be sold after a series of frustrating performances throughout 2012. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United would actually sell to a rival club, Arsenal may have done so with Robin van Persie in the summer, but don't expect Sir Alex Ferguson to be as charitable. One intriguing element surrounding this rumour is Theo Walcott, could United propose a swap? Who would get the better deal?
The latest on the Klaas-Jan Huntelaar situation is that Arsenal face competition from Serie A clubs for the Schalke striker. The Express report that both Lazio and Juventus are interested, with the player's agent saying the player will hold talks with the player in January and not before then.
Partizan Belgrade have moved to quell yesterday's reports that talented prospect Lazar Markovic had agreed to sign for Chelsea. The club's sporting director has said he knows nothing about any deal, and the Independent urge Chelsea fans to not get too excited on this one just yet.
Southampton are being linked with signing defensive midfielder Carlos Sanchez, report The Sun. The defensive midfielder is currently with French club Valenciennes and previously came close to signing for Bolton. The midfielder is nicknamed 'The Rock' and is a Colombian international who would add power to the Saints midfield and could cost as little as £2 million.
The Sun also report that Wigan are interested in former Swansea midfielder Ferrie Bodde. The midfielder was released by Swansea in the summer and had been training with former Den Haag in Holland, but Roberto Martinez has invited the 30-year-old Dutch free agent over for a trial.
