News and gossip from The Emirates in the past 24 hours.

Arsenal assistant manager Steve Bould is reportedly upset at reports there is an internal rift between him and Arsene Wenger at The Emirates. The former Gunners defensive stalwart and defensive coach took over from long serving Pat Rice in the summer and after originally receiving wide scale praise for his influence on a stronger Arsenal back-line in recent weeks the spotlight has returned in a much less positive way. However any reports of considerable differences in opinion between the two have been dismissed by a club source.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has disclosed the fact he rejected the chance to play for Arsenal this season in favour of their North London rivals after discussions with Arsene Wenger. The Belgian international says he was wanted as a holding midfielder at Arsenal in the mould of former Gunner Emmanuel Petit but he says he felt the defensive option at Tottenham was a better fit as in the long-term he considers himself a centre back.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar’s agent has suggested his client would prefer a move to Italian side Inter Milan over a Premier League team. Arsenal have been linked with the Dutchman but the summer Bosman is instead reported to have his eyes set on a return to Serie A, where he previously played for the Nerazzurri’s city rivals AC Milan.

There are reports that The Gunners may be looking to Milan themselves to strengthen their squad with a move for AC youngsters Stephan El Shaarawy and Mattia De Sciglio. It is believed the Serie A side have no intention of selling either player which would mean any bid having to be of a significant amount however with Arsenal being promised January funds it is not being ruled out.

Arsene Wenger will reportedly receive considerable funds in the January transfer window. The Arsenal manager is expected to do business in the winter in order to counteract faltering form that is threatening their chase for a Champions League place last season. The Arsenal Supporters Trust was reportedly assured in a meeting with chief executive Ivan Gazidis on Wednesday evening that plenty of money will be released for squad development.

Arsenal will be without Gervinho at the turn of the New Year as he has been included in the Ivory Coast squad for the upcoming 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa. If The Elephants make it all the way to the final he is likely to be away for a month as he takes on Tunisia, Algeria and Togo in the Group Stages.
