A report has sensationally claimed that Barcelona could sell Alex Song next summer, even though he only signed for the club a matter of months ago.
Spanish news outlet AS has reported that Song is interesting French club PSG, with the player even keen on the move.
It is claimed that contact has already been made between the two clubs, with PSG enquiring after Song with a switch next summer the aim.
So far the Cameroonian has failed to dazzle at the Camp Nou; so far he has made just six La Liga starts out of a potential 16 games.
He has scored one goal for the club, but in recent games in the league he has been sat on the bench.
He played 15 minutes in the 5-1 win over Bilbao earlier this month, and did not feature at all in the following wins over Real Betis and Atletico Madrid.
Perhaps the biggest cross on Song's Barcelona CV so far, is the fact he has featured in the club's only defeat this season, a shock 1-0 loss to Celtic.
He this week came out this week with a backhanded compliment to Arsenal, stating Wenger had 'prepared him' for his time at a more elite club, so it is interesting to learn he could soon be heading for the exit.
Our assessment is that by no means the link between PSG and Song is a guaranteed one, but as the season progresses, if Song cannot establish himself as a key member of Vilanova's side, either in defence or midfield, the chances of him seeking to move on next summer will only increase rather than decrease.
Arsenal fans will also be interested to learn in the same report that the Gunners have been credited as potential suitors for David Villa.
Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham have all been linked with the World Cup winner in recent days, along with PSG and Juventus. Villa has found himself in and out of the Barcelona side with Vilanova alternating between he and Alexis Sanchez.
What do you think of the news? Will Song be another to regret leaving Arsenal?
