Former Chelsea and Manchester City players feature along with transfer targets of Newcastle United, QPR, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in a round up of the transfer gossip from the continent.
AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Genoa, Chievo, Wolfsburg, Dortmund, FC Basel, Hamburg, Fenerbahce, PSV, Real Betis and Marseille all feature.
As usual there is much discussion around transfers in Serie A so here is a quick round up of action in Italy. First we go to Milan where AC are no longer looking to sell Robinho. After losing Pato to Corinthians a deal for Robinho to return home with Santos has now been put on hold. They are looking into bringing several players to the club and Radja Naingollan of Genoa is their number one target. Kevin Strootman of PSV Eindhoven is also considered a major transfer target. The likes of Ricardo Carvalho, Alessandro Matri, Juraj Kucka and David Astori have all also been mentioned.
City rivals Inter are also expected to have an overhaul after their humbling defeat at Udinese this weekend. The likes of goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino, Atalanta winger Ezequiel Schelotto, Chievo defender Marco Andreolli and Catania’s Francesco Lodi have all been linked with a potential move in January.
Meanwhile Juventus have confirmed their interest in attempting to lure Didier Drogba away from his Chinese adventure with Shanghai Shenhua. AC Milan are also reportedly interested.
Wolfsburg have completed a transfer coup by snapping up Croatian international Ivan Perisic from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder had struggled to get into the first team this season and moves for a fee in the region of €8 million.
However Dortmund are now reported to have entered the race for Marseille forward Loic Remy. The Frenchman, who has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs such as Newcastle and QPR, is seen as an eventual replacement for Polish international Robert Lewandowski and is available for transfer as Marseille look to balance the books.
Turkish side Fenerbahce have been perhaps the most active team in Europe over the weekend and into Monday as they make moves for much coveted duo Younes Belhanda & Benat Exteberria. Montpellier forward Belhanda seems the more likely deal and reports even emanated that they had completed a deal for the Moroccan. These have since been quashed but they are still in pursuit of the 22-year-old.
Meanwhile reports in Turkey suggest that Fener are ready to compete with the likes of Manchester City for Spanish international Benat; although some reports suggest he favours a move back to former club Athletic Bilbao.
And finally once one of Europe’s hottest targets, Marcus Berg of Hamburg, looks set for a move to Swiss outfit FC Basel. The Swedish international has struggled to hold down a regular spot in Germany and is now ready to make the move to Switzerland to reinvigorate his stuttering career.
There is also interest from his homeland and Spain in regards to a move.
