European transfer round-up: Including Stekelenburg and Cavani to Madrid

Cavani

Former Wigan Athletic and West Ham players feature along with transfer targets for Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, QPR and Fulham

Napoli, AC MIlan, Inter Milan, Parma, Genoa, Real Madrid, Sevilla, Dynamo Kiev, Galatasaray, Lokomotiv Moscow, Marseille and Bordeaux all feature in a round-up of the continents biggest moving and shaking in the past 24 hours.

Edinson Cavani’s representatives have reportedly been to Madrid to discuss a potential transfer to Real Madrid wither in January or the summer. The Napoli striker is one of Europe’s leading marksman and has been linked with several clubs in the past few weeks. Real however are looking to steal a march on their rivals with early negotiations.

Wesley Sneijder is officially in talks with Galatasaray. Despite apparently harbouring ambitions to play in the Premier League the Dutch maestro is instead starting to consider Turkey as his only option after they agreed a cut-price fee with Inter Milan for his services. The 28-year-old would be a massive coup for the Istanbul side.

Former Wigan centre-back Andreas Granqvist, who has been a reported transfer target for Liverpool this window, appears to be on his way to Ukraine with Dynamo Kiev. The big spending side is believed to have met the valuation of the Genoa defender and negotiations are being readied for this week. Kiev are currently trying to revamp their squad to challenge the impressive Shakhtar Donetsk for domestic supremacy and see the Swede as a vital component to that process.

Ivan Rakitic could become the first victim of Sevilla’s mounting financial problems as a prolonged transfer to Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow begun to take shape in the past 24 hours. He would join his former national team coach Slaven Bilic at the club and be paid a handsome sum in order to make the move.

AC Milan have been in the headlines once again for their apparent transfer dealings as AS Roma have reportedly rejected a deal that would see Mattia Destro and Maarten Stekelenburg sign for the club. The Dutch goalkeeper is reportedly keen to leave the club where he has struggled for form and fitness since a move from Ajax but despite this desire he is not expected to leave just yet while Roma are not interested in selling Destro.

Meanwhile it appears that Cristian Zaccardo is indeed on his way to AC Milan from Parma with Algerian left-back Djamel Mesbah going in the opposite direction. That move could pave the way for Italian international Ignazio Abate’s proposed transfer to Russian big-spenders Zenit Saint Petersburg.

And AC Milan have reportedly paid up for 50% of Ricardo Saponara of Empoli’s player rights. The Rossoneri will now co-own the player with Parma with discussions over where he will spend next season prepared to go ahead in July.

In France and Marseille have allowed 23-year-old midfielder Florian Raspentino a chance for first-team football with a move to Stade Brestois until the end of the season.

Staying in France and former West Ham wide-man Julien Faubert is keen on a return to Ligue 1 after leaving Turkish outfit Elazigspor after just six months. He is currently training with former team Bordeaux and is keen to stay in France.
