Football League Transfer Talk: Including Formica and Reo-Coker

Blackburn Celebrating

Blackburn Rovers, Ipswich Town, Bristol City and Barnsley all feature.

Blackburn Rovers player Mauro Formica is being offered a way back to Argentina by San Lorenzo. The attacking midfielder has failed to have a huge impact on the club since he originally signed for them and fresh reports are suggesting Blackburn are willing to let him leave.

Ipswich Town are on the verge of signing Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Lee Camp. Camp has been linked with a move away from Forest ever since the January transfer window opened and Mick McCarthy has also said he is targeting more fresh faces to come in at Portman Road.

Ipswich Town have confirmed that Nigel Reo-Coker has left the club. Reo-Coker refused to sign a new deal with the Championship agent which means he is now looking for a new club for the rest of the season. He is a free agent which means any new side simply have to work out personal terms with the midfielder.

Bristol City are being tipped as the odds on favourites to sign Sean O’Driscoll as their new manager. O’Driscoll was recently sacked as Nottingham Forest boss and has already turned down an approach from Blackpool to replace Michael Appleton. Bristol City look destined for a season near the foot of the Championship table.

Barnsley have signed David Flitcroft as the club’s new manager. Flitcroft guided the Championship strugglers to two wins in three matches as caretaker boss. He is being given the chance to lead the club after they failed to convince Terry Butcher and Sean O’Driscoll to take permanent charge of the team.

Preston North End have signed former Chelsea goalkeeper Rhys Taylor on non-contractual terms. It means there is no guarantee over how long Taylor will be at the club as he is free to leave at any time as he is not bound to the team by a contract for the rest of the season.

Ipswich Town are set to sign Anthony Wordsworth on a permanent deal from Colchester United. Ipswich are reportedly ready to pay a £200,000 fee for the midfield man who is keen to make the step up from League One to the Championship. The 24-year-old has been scouted by Ipswich since November.
