XSEED’s follow up to its successful horror title arrives on the PlayStation Network.

Horror fans and anime otaku can now play though creepy interactive visual-book Corpse Party: Book of Shadows.

Allowing fans to indulge their “what if?” side, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows drops players into the game’s past to relive horrific events they missed out on when high school teens mess with the occult and offers up a chance to spare people from their grizzly fates.

However, blunders and unexpected events can still lead characters to grim conclusions, with the fear being amped up by binaural 3D audio effects, for scaring yourself via headphones, and the original Japanese voice track.

Tasked with making your way through this scary world, players will have to take on challenges in this point-and-click title from a first-person perspective, as characters’ predicaments worsen the game employs its “darkening” system to distort the visuals.

During this the graphics become distorted and strange images appear, making the characters act erratically and hampering their decision-making.

The game invites you to join in and help save the “doomed and the damned” high-schoolers Naomi, Seiko, Mayu and Yoshiki, among many more.

Exclusively available on the PSP and PS Vita, the handheld title is developed and published by Japanese media group 5db, with input from the original creative force, Team GrisGris.
