Piers Morgan: 'He's the worst player in Arsenal history'

Andre Santos 2

The always outspoken Arsenal fan has been busy making bold statements once again. But who was he talking about?

Arsenal are still in the FA Cup, but Brighton gave them a fair scare at the Amex on Saturday, only for Theo Walcott's deflected strike to be their undoing.

Olivier Giroud bagged two, taking his personal tally to 13 for the season, and has to be said - Looks good to net 20 before the season is out.

One player who took plenty of flak for his efforts was left-back Andre Santos, who made a surprise start, making his first appearance at left-back since the Gunners lost 2-1 to Manchester United in early November. All brief appearances since have seen him feature in midfield.

But his performance against Brighton was described as a train-wreck by Arsenal's most notorious celebrity fan, Piers Morgan, leader of the 'Wenger out' brigade.

He even went as far as to brand Santos - 'The worst player in the club's history.' See for yourself below...

As for Santos, he was just happy to be playing, as he wrote himself on Twitter after the match.

The question is whether Santos can improve and work hard enough to get back into the side regularly. He was a £6 million signing by Arsene Wenger 18 months ago, but has routinely displayed questionable defensive ability.

Branding him the 'worst player in Arsenal history' does sound overly harsh though. He has his limitations, absolutely, but there have been a few bad ones over the years, even just in recent history - Igor Stepanovs, Glenn Helder, Francis Jeffers, Pascal Cygan - And what about Sebastien Squillaci?

There's a fair bit of competition, and we're quite sure none of them have scored a goal against West Brom on the last day of the season which helped the club secure Champions League qualification. If nothing else, appreciate him for that; if not his half-time shirt swapping.

Is Morgan too harsh on Santos? Who is the worst player in Arsenal history?
