Here's what Jenny Leigh expects to happen on deadline day...
5) Someone will get in a helicopter to or from Liverpool
The now infamous Fernando Torres transfer worth £50 million back in January 2011 wasn’t the last deadline day switch between Liverpool and Chelsea to involve a helicopter.
That August on deadline day Raul Meireles made the same switch, except the Portuguese midfielder cost just £12 million.
That same summer saw Craig Bellamy transported via helicopter to complete his medical at Liverpool on deadline day.
Last summer it was Andy Carroll who flew to West Ham with less than 24 hours to go.
Who will it be this year?
I think the Reds are unlikely to let any of their stars go at this point in time – I can’t see anyone other than perhaps Pepe Reina being sold. In the other direction, the Reds are still linked with Philippe Coutinho and, more likely, Swansea’s Ashley Williams.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Williams flying into Liverpool in James Bond style this deadline day.
4) Manchester City will lose a big name
Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli are the obvious candidates. The Argentinian has admitted he probably won’t sign a new contract and the Italian has been a disaster since he arrived.
Big-spenders Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Tevez and both Milan teams are hoping to bring Balotelli back to the San Siro.
I wouldn’t be remotely surprised to see the club lose one, either or both – although I expect that would only happen if they were able to bring in a big name like Edinson Cavani, Stefan Jovetic, or Radamel Falcao as a replacement imminently.
3) Tottenham will buy a striker late on
Daniel Levy has pulled off some transfers in his time and with Tottenham crying out for striking reinforcements, expect him to work his magic again.
Adebayor is off at the AFCON, while Jermain Defoe is now reported to be struggling with an injury. Will Levy really risk the wrath of fans if his inaction leads to Spurs being caught short as the season drags on?
I doubt it, so Tottenham fans should hold onto their hats and get ready for some late excitement as the clock ticks down on Thursday night.
2) Arsenal will sign someone you’ve heard of
Arsene Wenger has been unusually subdued this window. However, he’s been uncharacteristically open about his intention of signing ‘one or two’ ‘quality players’ this month.
Whether it will in fact be Adrian Lopez from Athletico Madrid, Mohamed Diame from West Ham, Stefan Jovetic from Fiorentina, or Celtic’s Victor Wanyama, Wenger will almost certainly sign someone on deadline day.
I’m going to go way out on a limb and say it won’t be a French-speaking teenager.
1) Everton will lose a key player to a London club
Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines are the obvious candidates – as much as David Moyes will be hoping he can hang on to his stars, I can’t see him keeping hold of both of them.
The Toffees have suffered painful losses on deadline day – Wayne Rooney, and Mikel Arteta spring freely to mind.
I would put money on either Chelsea or Arsenal bidding over £20 million for Fellaini and I think the player would be open to a move.
What do you predict will happen on deadline day?
