Chelsea latest: Including Drogba and Willian

Didier Drogba Celebrates

A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.

Brentford’s Harry Forrester says that his side have no fears about playing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after earning a replay with the Blues in the FA cup 4th round. Forrester scored the penalty that almost won Brentford the match, but believes they can still pull through when they play the replay.

The Bees manager Uwe Rosler also agrees that all the pressure will be on Chelsea in the replay, and that Brentford will have nothing to lose when they go to Stamford Bridge.

Gary Cahill says the second half comeback Chelsea achieved against Brentford is proof the players are fully behind Rafa Benitez. Chelsea fans are still voicing their discontent about the appointment of Benitez, but Cahill has said the players are behind the Spanish manager.

Benitez himself believes that John Terry could be a manager one day, and that his skills when working with younger players along with his interest in the tactical side of the game would stand him in good stead if he decided to go into management. On HITC today, Simon Bunn asks who was better at 20: John Terry or Phil Jones?

There has been speculation that Didier Drogba has turned down a chance to return to Chelsea and is set to join Turkish side Galatasaray instead. Drogba is currently on international duty at the African Cup of Nations, and left Chelsea at the end of last season to join Shanghai Shenhua.

Marco Materazzi has hit back at Rafa Benitez after the Chelsea manager called him a liar last week. The two fell out during Benitez’s reign at Inter Milan, and Materazzi has continued the war of words by saying if he is a liar, Benitez is thin:

“So I'm a liar? He's thin then, so that gives reason to call me a liar.”

Shakhtar Donetsk player Willian has reiterated his desire to play in the Premier League, and suggested he would be open to a move to either Chelsea or Tottenham this January, but he is happy to stay in the Ukraine if no bids come in:

"Chelsea are a great club and won the Champions League. Tottenham are a big club as well, and have a good coach in Andre Villas-Boas.

"They are two clubs with tradition. I'm still with Shakhtar for now, though. The transfer window is open for a few more days, but there are no offers it seems.”

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Jack Butland, and on HITC today we look at whether this means Thibaut Courtois is set to leave the Blues in the summer.
