Is Kagawa the start of a Japanese revolution at Old Trafford?

Kagawa

Shinji Kagawa could be behind the story that Yuto Nagatomo is on his way to Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United have always benefited from having stars in their side who can recommend brilliant players to an experience boss like Sir Alex Ferguson.

United, just like any other Premier League club, will consolidate and rebuild this summer and one of their best midfielders may have already been laying some ground work for a potential summer swoop.

When you think of Inter Milan, Yuto Nagatomo is probably not the first name that comes to mind but Shinji Kagawa could play a vital role in getting him to Old Trafford.

Here is a player who has already been courted by Real Madrid this season, officially, but with Jose Mourinho likely to leave at the end of the year, United are in pole position to sign him if their interest has some grounds.

There are several reasons Nagatomo would be ideal for United but it’s unclear as to whether it makes sense as United currently don’t have space for him in the squad.

The role he plays for Inter Milan is the role that Antonio Valencia plays for United. A full back who can play as an out and out winger. The only difference being Valencia is a winger who sometimes plays full back while Nagatomo is the opposite.

This story also seems to be based on the fact that key players are going to leave United this summer, in particular Nani.

The problem here is that Nani started against Fulham over the weekend and clearly still has value to Ferguson, especially if United go on to win the Premier League title again as expected.

This could be nothing more than a story created just because Kagawa is one of the most well liked individuals at United.

Any nice, decent and honest person is always going to stay in touch with old teammates and international teammates on a regular basis.

Bear in mind that several Borussia Dortmund players have been linked with moves to United along the same lines; because Kagawa still talks to them and is good friends with them.

This is a move which could easily happen because United do need some cover at right back but some have suggested that current United full back Rafael is the best in his position at the moment.
