Coloccini leaving is not the end of the world for Newcastle

Coloccini And Williamson

There is no need for Newcastle United or their fans to panic if Fabricio Coloccini walks away at the end of the season.

Fabricio Coloccini was being heavily linked with a move back to Argentina last month but he showed a bit of faith and stuck with Newcastle United.

However, all of the speculation is pointing towards the very real possibility that he will leave the club in the summer which will leave a gap in the Newcastle United back four.

There’s no need to panic Newcastle fans, for several reasons.

Newcastle do have cover at centre back if they decided that they didn’t need to replace Coloccini should he leave. Mike Williamson, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Steven Taylor are three high class defenders in the squad.

They can all play at centre back and there is James Perch who has filled in there too on occasions. However, it shows Newcastle have cover in that position which means they’d be able to cope even if Coloccini left right now.

There is also big reason to have faith and confidence in the club’s manager Alan Pardew.

Pardew is very good at identifying areas of the side that need improvement and filling them quickly.

He is also a manager that has a good knowledge of different transfer markets across Europe because of the solid scouting network which Newcastle are able to use.

If Coloccini leaves and Pardew feels as though the side needs another centre back, then they can go out and buy one for good value and without being ripped off by another side.

The issue of Coloccini leaving has nothing to do with something Newcastle may be doing wrong. Far from it. It’s just a natural desire of a player who wants to go home to the place he was born and bred and where he still has family.

Therefore, Newcastle fans, your club isn’t doing anything wrong. There are no major problems within the club’s infrastructure which are compelling players into seeking moves away from the North East.

Coloccini is the captain but there are several other leaders in the side. It’s really not that big a deal if he leaves and all of the speculation is pointing towards just that.

How do you think Newcastle will cope in his absence?
