Chelsea latest: Including Brentford team news and Pellegrini

Brentford Griffin Park

A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.

Chelsea will have four players who missed the trip to Sparta Prague available for the visit of Brentford this weekend, with Demba Ba, David Luiz, Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel all back in their match day squad. John Terry could also return for the Blues, after not being risked in the Europa League match.

Brentford have no fresh injury concerns, with only long term absentees Farid El-Alagui and Kevin O'Connor missing for the Bees.

Branislav Ivanovic has said it’s vital for the Blues to build up some momentum by beating Brentford after winning back to back games for the first time since December. The 1-0 win over Sparta Prague followed the 4-1 win over Wigan in the Premiership, and Ivanovic hopes Chelsea are improving their consistency:

“It was a very important game for us to win and to keep the momentum going.

"The lack of consistency has been very difficult for us, but we are a team that can build and we have to think about this.”

The agent of Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini has said that Chelsea have been in touch regarding his availability. Jesus Martinez said that other clubs had also contacted him about Pellegrini, and that the 59 year old would like to manage in the Premier League one day.

Another manager Chelsea are reportedly interested in is David Moyes, and the Everton boss has refused to commit his future to the club, saying he will assess his options at the end of the season:

"I want to see how we do in the cups, I want to see how we do in the league, and it's more than likely I won't make a decision until the end of the season.”

Chelsea have apparently beaten competition from a slew of European clubs to the signature of Cristian Cuevas, the 17 year old Chilean winger. The O’Higgins player was one of the stars of the recent South American U20 Championships and will cost Chelsea around £3.4 million.

One man Chelsea will be looking to keep this summer is David Luiz, with Barcelona reportedly interested in the Brazilian defender. On HITC today, Lewis Doe looks at how Chelsea can convince Luiz to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Also on HITC today we look at whether Victor Moses might have a striking role to play for Chelsea in the rest of the season.
