Liverpool have to be patient in the Europa League tie against Zenit St Petersburg, according to the boss Brendan Rodgers. Liverpool trail the Russian team 2-0 going into the second leg this evening at Anfield. Rodgers has also called on the fans to create a very hostile atmosphere.

Liverpool will be missing at least three players for the Europa League second leg tie against Zenit. Martin Kelly is out for the rest of the season while key attacking pair Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho are both ineligible to play for the club in he competition.

Daniel Agger has become the latest player linked with a summer switch to Barcelona. The Spanish giants are thought to be keen in adding out and out defensive players to their squad over using makeshift defensive midfield players as centre backs who fill in when needed.

Spartak Moscow forward Emmanuel Emenike has dismissed rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool. The Nigerian front man grabbed the headlines at the Africa Cup of Nations as he finished as top scorer with four goals. He scored twice against Celtic in the Champions League group stage.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has revealed he thinks Luis Suarez should be player of the year for 2012/2013. Suarez is one of the candidates for the award but Gerrard has suggested that the context surrounding his performances should give him the edge when the final decision is made.

Brendan Rodgers has accused various sections of fans and the media of expecting too much from his first season at Liverpool. Rodgers has described his time in charge so far as difficult but says people are wrong if they were expecting a ‘bolt of lightning’ style season from the club.

Brendan Rodgers has piled the praise on top of veteran defender Jamie Carragher. Rodgers says Carragher has been superb since he got back into the starting eleven and has revealed he’s had a much more positive effect than he was anticipating. Carragher has announced he will retire at the end of the season.

Brendan Rodgers has shown faith to unlucky striker Fabio Borini. Borini is out for the rest of the season after dislocating his shoulder and he has been linked with a move back to Serie A this summer, with Fiorentina thought to be keen on putting a transfer together.
