Five reasons Frank Lampard should go to MLS

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is being heavily linked with a move to the United States to play in the MLS.

Frank Lampard will have plenty of clubs queuing up to try and sign him this summer, including one or two American sides, which offer Lampard some benefits that he may find difficult to turn down. Here are five reasons he should go to the USA.

Standard

The standard of football in America is better than it has ever been, but it would still be less demanding on Lampard than if he stayed in England or joined another of the top sides across Europe. This could allow him to prolong his playing career, beyond the point he might be planning for retirement.

Profile

His profile would explode. It’s already pretty huge but the exposure and attention he would get in the USA is something which he may enjoy and because of his reputation, his profile could grow to a point where it’s bigger than if he’d stayed within European football.

Money

Financially it would be a very good move for him. He could make a lot more cash from going to the MLS than he would be staying in Europe. This is purely a personal and financial motive for going to the USA but if he puts his business head on, then it makes sense in this respect.

David Beckham

David Beckham was the first of several players to go to the USA and prove it’s possible to be successful. Beckham has a profile that Lampard can only dream of but he’s the best contemporary example, along with maybe Thierry Henry, that the MLS is worth joining for the competitiveness and success alone.

Leadership

Lampard is being tipped to join Beckham’s former club LA Galaxy, where he would go into the side as one of the most experienced players and he could possibly become the captain. He would enjoy the leadership role he hasn’t always been given for club and country. He could really thrive on helping and leading a young and talented American team.
