Lazio could be about to beat Arsenal to two of their targets, if reports are to be believed.
Arsenal are always reported to be in the hunt for new players, which is natural after their disappointing season and the news they have in the region of £70 million to spend this summer.
But not all of them make it to the Emirates, and reports today have claimed that the Gunners face competition for two players touted as future signings.
The two players concerned are Lucas Biglia, and Alessandro Matri - Who have both been linked with arriving at the Emirates.
Biglia plays for Anderlecht and is a defensive midfielder, one who has been edging towards a move over the past 12 months.
At one point in January it was claimed he had a deal with Inter Milan, but his Belgian side did not accept an offer even though the player and his agent had agreed personal terms.
It is being reported by Talksport that Lazio have 'won the race' for his signature, after having an £8 million offer accepted by the club.
With Arsenal needing a defensive midfielder to replace Alex Song, Biglia was one option - but he is seemingly off their radar for now, with Etienne Capoue more recently touted as a more likely option.
The second player who could be heading to the Rome club is Alessandro Matri, one of the players linked by the Express last week to Arsenal as part of a double swoop on Juventus.
Matri is a striker who has seven Serie A goals for the Italian champions this season, but most of his performances have been as a substitute.
At 28, it was always a reach to imagine him signing for Arsenal, as he appears to lack the star quality needed to replenish the Gunners fortunes, and now it seems a transfer to Lazio could be more likely.
Corriere dello Sport claims that Matri is top of Lazio's summer striking targets list, and a bid could be forthcoming. Arsenal's reported interest could just have forced their hand.
Arsenal fans would you be fussed about missing out on either of these two?
