Juan Mata's omission from Chelsea's starting line-up early this season has not gone unnoticed, and he was the subject of interest of links with various clubs before the transfer window closed.
Jose Mourinho has said he wants Mata to stay, but the arrival of Willian will only add pressure onto a very competitive battle for places, with the Spaniard already losing out.
It has not gone unnoticed in Spain, with Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo running the story that Mata is unhappy.
They write: "Mata has expressed his intention to stay in the London despite the limited role under the guidance of Mourinho and fight to earn a spot in the starting lineup.
"However, this determination can be weakened if the weeks pass and he still does not feel important on the team.
"Mata, in fact, is disappointed by the situation, especially after Mourinho in the summer made sure to say he is an important player for him."
The paper go onto add in the report that Barcelona would be an ideal club for him and are monitoring the situation, even if relations with Jose Mourinho may suggest the 'Happy One' would not sell to the club.
"The Spaniard in the scheme of Barça could play in attack from the side, would fit perfectly in the starting Barcelona line-up and is in a good position to replace Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas if any of them end up leaving Barca."
It is of course just speculation, and the paper may well be trying to unsettle him further. But this will continue to grow if Mata is not given opportunities regularly, a star performer last season.
Chelsea fans will be hoping he will, because losing the young talent is not a situation any fan would want to see.
