Chelsea latest: Cech targeted, Vitesse criticism and Lukaku controversy

Petr Cech At Stamford Bridge

News and gossip from the past 24 hours at Stamford Bridge.

Petr Cech is reportedly a target for Barcelona next summer. Chelsea are ready to bring Thibaut Courtois in from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid next season and finally hand him the chance to be the number one stopper at Stamford Bridge.

Cech would therefore be surplus to requirements and Barcelona are losing Victor Valdes next summer - and the Czech stopper could be the perfect candidate to replace him.

Chelsea are being criticised in Holland for the way in which they use Eredivisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem. There are currently six Chelsea players on loan with Vitesse - Patrick van Aanholt, Gael Kakuta, Lucas Piazon, Cristian Cuevas, Christian Atsu and Sam Hutchinson.

The clubs have a close relationship due to the friendship of their respective owners Roman Abramovich and Merab Jordania.

Romelu Lukaku has spoken about the meeting between his loan club and parent club this weekend. The Belgian international cannot make his debut for the club this weekend as The Toffees face off against his parent club Chelsea- and the clauses in his loan agreement stipulate he cannot play against Chelsea.

However when asked whether he wanted Everton to win the game on Twitter he responded ‘ Yes. I have to be honest.’

Jose Mourinho has reportedly united a dressing room that was divided, according to John Terry.

‘’We are looking fit and very much together – and that’s because of Jose. His man-management is excellent and he makes people want to play for him. He has come home and all the players want to play for him. We are very much back in the same mould again.’’

New striker Samuel Eto’o is reportedly damaging to team spirit according to former Anzhi coach Roberto Carlos. He said Eto’o was not a team player and stated:

‘’He did everything at Anzhi, except play football."
