The Swiss website info-ticker.ch is reporting that Neven Subotic from Germany’s Borussia Dortmund received interests from Manchester United FC and Bundesliga’s Bayern Munich. According to the website there have been already talks about a £21 million transfer fee.
Could the rumours be true? Maybe, but there are not likely coming true before next summer.
Sure, Nemanja Vidic is not getting any younger and his contract expires next year. However the soon-to-be 32-years-old Serbian international is still a dependable force in Manchester’s backline.
As well as for Borussia Dortmund and Neven Subotic a transfer is hardly conceivable. The club from the West of Germany just signed Subotic to a three year contract extension.
Sure, Dortmund could get another defender – but why? Bundesliga’s only market-listed club announced two month ago that they increased their profit from last year’s £29 million to £45 million. They are obviously in no need for money
Sure, Subotic could suddenly feel the wanderlust and the desire to play for another club. But the defender with four passports moved a lot at early ages. In Germany he feels at home reports are saying and he wants to stay in Dortmund.
It helps that he has a good relationship with his manager Jurgen Klopp, who is coaching him since 2007.
Therefore it is presumably that the rumours won’t materialize any time soon.
What’s your opinion? Is Manchester United FC in need for a defender? What does the future look like for Nemanja Vidic?
