Chelsea teen could get World Cup reprieve - as rumours of Algerian disqualification emerge

England V Algeria

Bertrand Traore and Burkina Faso could still go to the World Cup - as Algeria's place at the competition is under scrutiny.

Chelsea starlet Bertrand Traore had his hopes of a World Cup dream dashed this week after Algeria defeated Burkina Faso 1-0 at home to level the tie 3-3 - but won on away goals.

It was a sore way for them to fall out the competition - as it would have been The Stallions inaugural World Cup finals appearance.

But this might not be the end of the story.

The game was marred by two major incidents, one on the pitch and one off the pitch.

Unfortunately, celebrations after the game saw over 200 people injured and 12 dead - and that was after crowd trouble before the game.

Meanwhile on the pitch Madjid Bougherra escaped a red card for what was an absolutely horrendous challenge on Charles Kabore - and he then went on to score the winning goal just four minutes later.

The crowd trouble comes after a similar situation saw them in hot water before the 2010 World Cup - where riots tarnished the playoff with Egypt.

And now, rumours in France this evening suggest that the Algerian side have been disqualified. In fact the rumour was so believable that there were mass celebrations Ouagadougou - the capital city of Burkina Faso.

It has been confirmed that the nations Football Association have sent a complaint to FIFA against the referee in the game Badara Diatta - who decided Bougherra’s assault on Kabore did not warrant a red card.
