New manager Roberto Martinez has had a great start to his career on Merseyside but what faces him and his side before 2014 arrives?
11 games in to his first campaign as Everton manager and the signs are encouraging for David Moyes' replacement Roberto Martinez.
But what games face them before the end of the year that could determine how successful Martinez's first season will be?
Liverpool (H) 23rd November - A first Merseyside derby for the new manager and a chance to really get his new club's fans on his side if they can pick up the win. It won't be easy though against the Reds who are sitting second in the league and two points off of leaders Arsenal.
Manchester United (A) 4th December - The visitors are reunited with former manager Moyes at Old Trafford and will be hoping to give him and his new side a run for their money as the champions continue their quest to retain the title.
Arsenal (A) 8th December - Martinez's men follow up their visit to Manchester with a trip to London four days later to take on the current league leaders. Positive results over the two games will see Martinez's stock rise some more and keep Everton in and around the top six.
Swansea (A) 22nd December - Given the style of football played by both Martinez and Swans boss Michael Laudrup then this should be a fantastic game to watch. Everton have won on both Premier League visits to the Liberty Stadium without conceding a goal so they will hope to keep that record up in their last game before Christmas.
Southampton (H) 29th December - The last game of the year sees them play host to Mauricio Pochettino's high-flying Saints. It's unlikely that the team from the south coast will still be in the top four once this game comes around but it will be a tough test for Martinez and his players before they celebrate the new year.
How many points can Everton gain from these important fixtures?
