Benzema 'not a good idea' says Wenger and 'careful' Cazorla ahead of Marseille tie

All the morning news and gossip from The Emirates this Saturday morning.

Arsene Wenger has stated he has no intention of buying a striker in January. The Frenchman has seen his side linked with numerous central options in recent weeks - as Olivier Giroud has currently been asked to old the fort by himself at The Emirates.

But with the return of Theo Walcott, the imminent recover of Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo back in action from January Wenger feels they have adequate cover up top.

But Wenger did rule one thing out - The Gunners will not be bidding for Karim Benzema of Real Madrid. When asked on the subject Wenger simply responded:

"I don't think that's a good idea."

Theo Walcott returned for Arsenal yesterday afternoon - as two goals from Olivier Giroud gave them the win against his former club Southampton.

Walcott entered the fray in the 70th minute - taking the place of Santi Cazorla and Wenger said that patience is the key to his recovery:

“He has been out for seven weeks. You could see he is still a bit short physically, but he has not played at all for seven weeks and only one day training with the group, so that will come back quickly.”

Cazorla meanwhile has been looking ahead to the Champions League game with Marseille. If Dortmund fail to win against Napoli and Arsenal beat the Ligue 1 side the Gunners advance to the final 16 - and considering Marseille’s lowly position in the table the Gunners go into the game as huge favourites.

However the Spanish midfield wizard insists that they must take the game seriously:

"The main problem I see is that everyone thinks that it's not going to be an easy game for us to win. There is nothing at stake for Marseille because they have zero points but they are going to make things difficult for us. It may be tough and if we're not careful we might slip and then we might not be able to get through to the next round.”

Is Wenger right? Would signing Benzema be a bad idea?
