The north London side are believed to be in negotiations to sign Real Betis winger Alvaro Vadillo, if the Spanish press are to be believed.

A report in Spain today has suggested that Arsenal are on the verge of signing highly rated Alvaro Vadillo from Real Betis.

Punto Pelota claim that Arsene Wenger’s men are in ‘advanced talks’ with the La Liga outfit regarding the purchase of the attacking midfielder, with a fee in the region of €20 million being touted.

The report concludes by saying that Arsene Wenger is a massive admirer of Vadillo and has personally been involved in the process to try and bring the Spaniard to the Emirates Stadium.

Vadillo broke into the Real Betis first-team back in 2011, becoming the second-youngest ever player to feature in a La Liga match, a month shy of his 17th birthday.

The young winger’s ability on the ball, trickery and technique saw him compared with Cristiano Ronaldo, and there were rumblings that Manchester United came close to signing the attacker in 2011.

The 19-year-old suffered a serious injury at the end of 2011 in a clash with Sergio Ramos, and was sidelined for a number of months with a torn cruciate ligament.

Following a return from injury, Vadillo has played ten times for Betis this season. He has also represented Spain at under-17. 19 and 20 level.
