Yet more reaction about Luis Suarez's stunning display against Norwich City last night.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that if Luis Suarez stays at the club for the rest of his career then he could emulate Kenny Dalglish – who is widely regarded as the greatest player to play in a Liverpool shirt.
‘There's no doubt that this club has been blessed with a number seven like Kenny, the greatest player this club has had.
‘This is the perfect club for him. The whole profile suits Luis down to the ground and hopefully in the coming years he can achieve everything he wants to achieve which is to play at the top level of the game. His talent deserves that and this is a club that deserves that.’
Rodgers also told his press conference that there are no fresh injury worries ahead of Liverpool’s match with West Ham United at Anfield at the weekend.
Allen said of the Uruguayan: ‘Luis takes the burden off a lot of the players when he scores goals like that. He inspires everyone and it’s a pleasure to work with someone of his quality.
‘He is getting more and more consistent and that’s fantastic for Liverpool Football Club. Long may that continue.’
Captain Steven Gerrard hailed the performance of Suarez as one of the best Anfield has ever seen, and said it was on the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi – who are widely regarded as the best two players in the world.
‘You have seen a world-class performance, probably one of the best individual performances I’ve seen at Anfield – and I’ve been playing here a long time.
‘Having worked with him every single day, it’s probably less of a surprise to me as it is to the supporters. I’ve been pushing his corner for a long time that he is up there with the best in the world.’
‘If two or three of the biggest clubs in Europe show interest in him - then I think he could break the world-record fee for sure - and with the way he is playing you would have to say he is worth it.’
Will Suarez do it all over again at the weekend?
