Welcome to the Christmas List, this is a feature where we look at players that clubs could have on their list to Santa to help them improve in the second half of the season.
Today we're going to look at pairing up the blunt and under-whelming Manchester United with the exciting and inspiring Ivan Rakitic.
The Switzerland born Croatian international has been a key player for every club he as been at since the age of 18, where he was the pin-up boy for Swiss champions Basel.
This earned him a move to the much more illustrious Bundesliga, where he became known as one of the dangerous midfielders in the division for Schalke 04.
He is currently club captain for La Liga outfit Sevilla, and an integral part of their Europa League contention.
According to whoscored.com the Croatian has been the third best player in La Liga this season, second only to the ever dominant top 2 (Messi and Ronaldo) he is edging out more illustrious stars in Neymar, Gareth Bale and Isco.
In 14 games this season, he has scored 7 goals, created 5 and won more MOTM awards than any other player in the division.
Despite having a release clause of around £33 million, it is said that Sevilla may have to be more realistic about their finances before rejected serious money, so United could even snap themselves up a bargain in the process!
Is Rakitic the man to improve United in 2014?
