6 goals in 4 matches - Liverpool missed out on South Korean talent

Liverpool or Tottenham should have tried harder for Heung Min Son.

He is the crowd favourite. Always smiling, always looking to make a nifty move.

As one German newspaper wrote, if midfielder Emre Can is makes a misplaced pass, fans are booing, if Heung-Min Son plays bad the crowd stays calm at most, but more often then not they are encouraging.

The 21-year-old lacks consistency didn't show his best against Manchester United for Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League which of course begs the question: Is the stage yet too big for him? Are world-class teams able to contain him?

There are no conclusive evidence but there might be some room left to grow at an age of 21.

However Heung-Min Son has potential, unsurprisingly as Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur were in the market for the South Korean international. But Brendan Rodgers and Andre Villas-Boas should have tried harder as they could have snatched him up far cheaper than he could cost in the future.

Marco Reus, who is targeted by several Premier League teams, is an up and coming talent but his numbers are nothing compared to Son’s record.

In 85 Bundesliga games he has scored 27 times. A huge number for the 21-year-old young gun.

Six goals in Leverkusen’s last four Bundesliga matches, which include two man of the match awards and the highest Opta rating of 10.

With an estimated market value of £12.5m he is not the cheapest of all talents but far more cheaper than Marco Reus or Julian Draxler.

One columnist once wrote: “A pacey, two-footed forward, Son can play a number of attacking positions, and has consistently shown that he is a lethal finisher in front of goal.”

He may well be a name Liverpool or Tottenham decide to return for in the future.

What do you think did Liverpool missed out on Heung-Min Son? Would he have been an upgrade over Philippe Coutinho, Victor Moses or Iago Aspas?
