Some of the key stories related to Liverpool Football Club on this Friday morning.

Liverpool are said to be on alert for Rubin Kazan’s Salomon Rondon according to a report in the Daily Express.

Inter Milan are also said to be interested in the player after the player is said to be prepared to take a pay cut to move to a top European club. £17m could be enough to land the forward according to the Express, but the Reds would need to move quickly to beat off Inter’s interest if they wanted to sign the player.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers expects Jordan Henderson and Daniel Agger to return to the squad ahead of Sunday’s trip to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham Hotspur.

Henderson picked up an ankle injury against West Ham United but trained yesterday, Rodgers told the club’s website.

The Liverpool manager is also hopeful that Steven Gerrard could be back before the four week timescale outlined to recover from his hamstring strain.

Rodgers said: ‘Steven will go through an extensive treatment programme over the next number of weeks and hopefully we can get him back that little bit sooner.’

20-year-old defender Jon Flanagan is hoping for an extended run in the side after making three four consecutive appearances for the reds at left-back in the Premier League of late.

But the youngster has recognised that he needs to keep playing to a high standard with Daily Star quoting him saying: 'I take it game by game; I've got to continue working hard. If I get the opportunity to play I've got to take that chance.

'My aim is to always play as well as possible and help the team keep getting points.

'I want to keep playing and, if Jose comes back, I'll just keep working hard and see what happens.'

Brendan Rodgers says he has been proved right by the return to form of Martin Skrtel, saying that he has become one of the best central defenders in the league in an interview with the LFC magazine.

The Liverpool boss said: 'He's composed, he looks bigger on the pitch and he's been brilliant during this run he's had in the team so hopefully that will continue. He's another international captain who's still improving.'
