GIF: On-loan United starlet scores sublime overhead kick

DW Stadium - Wigan Athletic

Nick Powell, signed to be the heir to Paul Scholes, is showing his class in the Championship with Wigan Athletic.

The 19-year-old, who signed for United in 2012 after impressing for Crewe Alexandra in League Two, has been loaned out to Wigan in order to give him first team football. There have even been suggestions that United boss David Moyes will look to end the loan deal early, so he can loan him out to a fellow Premier League side.

These rumours have so far been unfounded and Powell remains at the DW Stadium, and got new manager Uwe Rosler's reign off to a great start by scoring the second goal in the Latics' 3-2 win over neighbours Bolton Wanderers.

After Chris McCann's shot was blocked, Powell executed the perfect bicycle kick past Andy Lonergan, proving that he has the kind of quality needed to be a success at United.

Should Powell be recalled? Can he make the grade at Old Trafford?
