Media mogul Piers Morgan took a break away from his social media commentary on cricket to speak out over the two biggest stories in football today, Monday, December 16 by kissing goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur's erstwhile under-fire manager Andre Villas-Boas and the pairing of his beloved Arsenal in a horror Champions League clash with reigning European champions Bayern Munich.
AVB? Mwah. #THFC— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) December 16, 2013
An official statement on tottenhamhotspur.com confirmed that: 'agreement has been reached with Andre Villas-Boas for the termination of his services. The decision was by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties. We wish Andre well for the future.'
As far as Arsenal business was concerned, Morgan appeared fazed that the club's confirmed Champions League opponents were Bayern Munich but hoped that the prospect of being eliminated by the team who knocked them out of the competition last season 'forces' Arsene Wenger into doing business in the upcoming mid-season transfer market.
If Wenger does not purchase an elite-level player in the January window then to paraphrase Morgan, it won't just be AVB he kisses goodbye, but any chance his Gunners have of securing silverware come the end of the season.
There is, of course, only one man Morgan wants Arsenal to pursue… but his signature could well cost anywhere between £60m and £100m.
The CL draw must force Wenger into buying a world class striker. Without one, we have no chance of trophies season. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) December 16, 2013
