Manchester City v Liverpool - an early betting look

Manchester City Etihad

Goals in this game just seem inevitable.

With Manchester City v Liverpool being the most eye-catching of the games in the Boxing Day schedule, you’d think the promise would be of goals given they are the highest scorers in the league this season.

So who fancies a 4-4 draw? The price seems to be shortening on that at the moment with 150/1 still on offer

In fact there are some weird and wonderful scorelines on offer on Oddschecker, a 7-2 Liverpool win available at 300/1, for City to win by the same score they’re as long as 250/1.

City are averaging three goals a game this season whilst Liverpool average just under 2.5 goals per game and both sides are conceding goals at an average of more than a goal per game.

Both teams like to play attacking football and clean sheets haven’t exactly been in much supply. Liverpool have only managed to shut out the opposition twice on the road this season, whilst Manchester City seem to have a habit of hammering sides at home.

So, who wants to back the improbable 0-0 at 22/1?

The both teams to score market will be an obvious one to look out for as will the over and under market, I’d like to look at the over 4.5 goals market personally. Those that don’t fancy a lot of goals will see under 2.5 goals is available as long as 7/4.

Especially with the likelihood of a right footed full-back playing at left-back for Liverpool, and potentially Gael Clichy operating at right-back again for City after he played there in the 4-2 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, both teams to score is heavily fancied at 1/2, and can anyone really see a side keeping a clean sheet? It’s doubtful at 7/4.

Punters will more than likely to back Suarez to score [first goal is available at 5/1 with City's Alvaro Negredo available at the same price], the Uruguayan striker is currently available at 11/8 to score any time.

It’s safe to say that if it’s a cagey affair that is kept tight which has been typically expected in the Premier League between sides near the top of the table in the recent past, it would be a big surprise.

What bet will catch your for this clash?
