The five best Christmas gifts for Arsenal

Premier League

This festive period looks set to bring many things for Arsenal, but what would be the best gift for the club this year ?

1) A pipe

It’s become one of the most used gags of the new season ever since Arsenal made their controversial £40,000,001 bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez this summer - leading the Merseyside club’s owner John W Henry wondered: 'What do you think they’re smoking over there at the Emirates ?'

Perhaps the best gift for Arsenal would be to end the speculation and get them a good old-fashioned pipe. I reckon that would suit Ivan Gazidis quite well – just so long as they keep it away from Jack Wilshere, obviously.

2) A puffer jacket

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has had such terrible trouble with his coat in the last year or so, I think it’s high time someone invested in a new one for him – perhaps Velcro might do the trick for 2014.

3) A new contract for…

Perhaps a new puffer jacket might entice the longest serving manager in the Premier League to sign a new deal with the club he’s been charged with for almost 18 years now. With his contract up in the coming summer and after such a difficult year with many struggles, let’s hope the Frenchman gets the deal he deserves.

4) A striker

When I was kid I used to sing ‘all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth’ and after a fairly toothless display at the Emirates on Monday night against Chelsea, there’s little doubt Arsenal could use a top striker in January to help ease the burden on Olivier Giroud.

5) A trophy

Finally, the very best Christmas present anyone associated with Arsenal could get is a trophy in 2014 – it’s been a decade since the Gunners won the Premier League title (with the Invincibles), and their last piece of silverware was the 2005 FA Cup, so let’s all send Santa the same request and come on you Gunners!
