Despite competing in the Theatre of Dreams, Tottenham Hotspur underlined Old Trafford's new, perhaps unwelcome moniker, the Theatre of Nightmares, by inflicting a 2-1 defeat onto their hosts; Manchester United, to move three points ahead of David Moyes' men in the Premier League, a brace of points shy from Liverpool, in fourth - the lucrative and elusive final Champions League spot.
At the centre of Spurs' edging of last season's champions was Christian Eriksen, who supplied Emmanuel Adebayor with a cross that he dutifully headed into the net, beyond the reasch of David de Gea in the 34th minute. In the second half, the provider of the first turned into the goalscorer for the second as Eriksen scored Tottenham's second - likewise with his head - albeit followed by a swift reply from Daniel Welbeck.
While Adebayor was brought off the field on the 70th minute, replaced by Nacer Chadli, Tottenham fans will be hoping it was merely a precautionary measure as the Togo front-man is bang in hot form and has scored four in Tottenham's last five games.
Supporter reaction ranged from lauding Adebayor as an outstanding contributor, to a legend, while others claimed the former Arsenal and Manchester City player sent United fans home crying. See more below…
