Manchester United are preparing a £24million bid to land Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan this January, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 23-year-old Germany midfielder has not played since August due to a back injury, but United are reportedly keen to bring him to Old Trafford regardless.
Boss David Moyes is said to be a huge fan of Gundogan, while the Mirror's report claims the German's representatives have already held talks with United.
The Premier League champions have previously been linked with the midfielder, who has 18 months left on his Dortmund contract, but are now said to be ready to table a concrete offer.
This ties in with recent reports that owners, the Glazers, are prepared to offer Moyes a £100million war-chest due to the fear of missing out on Champions League football.
Should Gundogan sign for Moyes' side, United would likely end their reported pursuit of Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, although the German international could join the ranks of Cesc Fabregas and Ander Herrera in rejecting the Manchester club this season.
Both Fabregas and Herrera were reportedly subjects of failed bids from United during the summer transfer window, with the club eventually settling for Everton's Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgian has largely disappointed, however, playing just 11 times in all competitions and failing to score a single goal. Far more will be expected of Moyes' next signing.
Would £24million be enough for Manchester United to lure Gundogan away from Dortmund?
