Spurs boss Tim Sherwood is ‘happy’ to let certain players go in this transfer window in order to reduce the wage bill.

Sherwood is quoted saying: ‘As long as they’re the right players and the ones I don’t want to take us forward then I’m happy. You can only go with a certain amount of players.

‘As long as they’re the right players and the ones I don’t want to take us forwards then I’m happy. You can only go with a certain amount of players.

‘I’ve got a certain amount of trust in other players before some others, but the longer I’m with them on the training field, the more I’m getting to know them and the more I’m getting attached to some of the new players as well.’

Youngster Ryan Fredericks has been sent out on loan for three months. The 21-year-old has made one appearance this season for Spurs against Anzhi Makhachkala in the 4-1 win against the Russian side in the Europa League.

One youngster that is getting rave reviews is Nabil Bentaleb, with teammate Brad Friedel telling TalkSport he has everything he needs to become a top player.

‘Only time will tell how good he can be. He’s very good though. He’s one of the young players Tim trusts as he knows him very well.

‘He’s a very good passer of the ball and he’s a player who knows Tim’s style of play. He wants to get the ball a lot on the half-turn as he looks to play forward.’

Hugo Lloris is prepared to graft this weekend according to the club’s website as Spurs look to keep up the pressure on the top four places with a win against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

Lloris said: ‘Our hopes for the season are still alive because we’re getting points and we are closer to the top four, so we are still in a good way.

‘But we have to be careful and if we want to finish where we want to be, we have to do more.

‘It’s always difficult to play against Swansea and we know they’re capable of getting some good results against big teams.’
