They say keep your friends close and your enemies even closer. That's exactly what Chelsea look to have done with Mohamed Salah.

If you can't beat them, join them. Or pay them good money to join you. Sound fair?

Either way, that's what Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side have done with Mohamed Salah, who has proven a thorn in the Blues' side on no less than three separate occasions over the past year.

The 21-year-old Basel winger first struck against Chelsea in last season's Europa League, before scoring twice against them in this season's Champions League. The latter were particularly painful for Blues fans as they led to shock Basel wins against Mourinho's men.

But any more individual efforts of brilliance from Salah will now likely see the Blues themselves hit the back of the net, providing the ultimate solution to an otherwise frustrating problem.

Here's what Chelsea fans now have to look forward to, rather than fear:

Europa League 2012/13 (Chelsea 3-1 Basel)

Champions League 2013/14 (Chelsea 1-2 Basel)

Champions League 2013/14 (Basel 1-0 Chelsea)
