Tottenham star rubbishes talk of Real Madrid switch

Paulinho

Paulinho has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants, but says he is focused on getting fit and back into the Spurs team.

Of Tottenham’s seven summer signings, Paulinho has been one of the most promising players.

The Brazil international has shown glimpses of why Spurs brought him to White Hart Lane from Corinthians, with lung-busting runs forward and ability on the ball.

As such, the South American has been rumoured as a possible target for Real Madrid.

However, despite this, Paulinho has made it clear that he is only focusing on Spurs for the time being.

"I leave these matters with my agent, but without doubt it is good recognition for any player to be coveted by a club with the history of Real Madrid,” the midfielder told Sambafoot.

"My head, however, is completely focused on returning to play and win at Tottenham."

Spurs fans have had to sit and watch stars such as Luka Modric and Gareth Bale leave North London to move to the Santiago Bernabeu, and would surely not discount lightning striking three times in the same place.

Paulinho is currently on the sidelines with an ankle injury, suffered at the hands of Stoke’s Charlie Adam, but is expected to be back in the first-team reckoning in the near future.
