Sassuolo have appointed Alberto Malesani as their new coach and he can certainly be good value in press conferences.

Serie A minnows Sassuolo are hoping that well-travelled coach Alberto Malesani can keep them afloat this season.

The Emilia-Romagna side sacked Eusebio Di Francesco after a 3-1 loss to Livorno with the Neroverdi in the relegation zone.

AC Milan rejected an approach for youth coach Pippo Inzaghi and links to former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo proved to be unfounded.

They have opted instead for Malesani, who has coached Chievo, Fiorentina, Parma, Verona, Modena, Udinese and Genoa twice amongst others.

"US Sassuolo Calcio would like to communicate the appointment as first team coach of Alberto Malesani," a statement on the club's official website reads.

"Mister Malesani will take charge of training this afternoon and his presentation to the media will be on January 30 at 11.30am."

Malesani is famous for a rant during a press conference when he managed Greek side Panathinaikos in 2005-06.

The Greek press had repeatedly questioned his tactics and the fiery Verona-born coach launched into a crazed tirade.
