Arsenal summer target Jovetic on whether he regrets moving to Manchester City?

Does Stevan Jovetic regret moving to Manchester City? No chance, he says he even wishes he made the move earlier.

Manchester City summer signing Stevan Jovetic nearly made the first major contribution of his career at the club on Monday night, forcing a tricky late save from Petr Cech in the narrow defeat to Chelsea.

The Montengrin star has seen his time at the club blighted by injury so far, but having scored a week earlier against Tottenham, there are signs he is coming into form a just the right time heading down the title stretch.

It's so far been an anti-climax for the 24-year-old, who was the subject of one of the most drawn out transfer sagas of the summer.

Arsenal had appeared the most likely team to sign the player, linked with his signature throughout the build-up to the transfer window, but dropped their interest in mid-July, unwilling to match Fiorentina's £25 million asking price.

Jovetic had even admitted he would be keen on a switch, telling The Sun in March: "I've heard about Arsenal's interest, it's a big pleasure for me to be on the radar of such a big club. I am happy about that.

"I've always had an affinity with Arsenal. It's a major club with a big tradition, one of the biggest in Europe."

Yet quizzed yesterday by French channel BeIN Sport regarding his decision to join Manchester City, and whether he regrets it, Jovetic was adamant he made the best decision, and did not even give the Gunners a mention.

"I never regretted the choice. Sure these 4-5 months have been difficult at the beginning because I was not playing, I got injured often but now it is all behind.

"I do not never doubted myself even in the most difficult moments, I knew that I could play in this team and now I have to prove.

"City? Nastasic and I talked a lot, he convinced me, I decided to come here because there is a major project with many players.

"I should have come the year before, but I was happy and I had a nice season with Montella and Fiorentina. There was also Real Madrid, but I chose the City."

Manchester City's simple pursuit of him in the summer, paying Fiorentina's asking price, left Arsenal fans frustrated at their own team dallying on a potential deal.

However so far there has been little opportunity for the international to make the Gunners regret their club not pushing harder to sign him.

As the title race hots up, Jovetic's return to fitness could be one of the key factors which spurs City on, especially with Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero battling injuries.

Anxious to make up for lost time, Jovetic also has the perfect stage to make it up to his club when they tackle Barcelona in the Champions League later this month, now the task is to let his football do the talking.

Will Jovetic end the season a big money flop or a shrewd signing for City?
