Iago Flaque showed the flop Argentine how it's done with a superb performance for Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
Overpaid for at the price of an overall potential outlay of £30 million he also had to settle into a new lifestyle as well as try to adapt to a new language - it was certainly never going to be easy for the player.
His continued injury problems have not been ideal either - and it seems the time has come now to write this season off as a disaster, and look forward to 2014-15.
Meanwhile another left-footed right winger on the Tottenham books has just had the game of his life.
Last season saw Iago Falque impress for Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-21 outfit on numerous occasions, as well as impressing with Spanish outfit Almeria on loan. With that in mind some ambitious followers felt he might even get a chance in the first team - but Andre Villas-Boas was not about to put his faith in the 23-year-old former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus attacker just yet.
So instead he was sent out to Spain on loan once again, this time with Rayo Vallecano.
He has suffered with injuries this season and up until now his stay in Madrid has been largely uninspiring.
The Hulk lookalike however took the bull by the horns today - and starred as Rayo brushed aside Malaga 4-1.
He opened the scoring in the game with a wonderful goal from the right wing - nutmegging two players before slotting past Willy Caballero in the Malaga goalmouth.
That was his first goal since he joined the club - and you know what they say about goals - they’re like buses.
You wait forever for one and then two come along at once - as he finished off the tie just past the hour mark with this strike.
He will now hope his injury problems are behind him - and he can finally push on and make something of his so far nomadic career.
Can Falque ever make it at Spurs?
