Chelsea latest: Wenger 'failure specialist', PSG give Jose reason to screw Barca, more

Jose Mourinho Chelsea

All the latest news and views from Stamford Bridge including manager Mourinho's jibe at Arsenal boss and how the Portuguese can get one over his rival…

Whether Jose Mourinho is feeling the heat of a hotly-contested Premier League title race or if he's the one bringing the fire will be a debating point until the destination of the crown is decided but the Chelsea boss is now unleashing headlining quote after headlining quote, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger the latest recipient of a tongue-lashing.

'If, supposedly he [Arsene Wenger] is right and I am afraid of failure it is because I don't fail many times. He is a specialist because eight years without silverware is very long. If I do that with Chelsea, I leave and I don't come back,' he told the assembled media at a press conference ahead of the club's FA Cup clash against Manchester City.

Not only did Mourinho sting Wenger with the failure specialist line, but also claimed if he embarked on such a barren run he would exile himself!

Regarding the City match itself, competed at the Etihad Stadium in the late afternoon kick-off on Saturday, Mourinho confirmed that the Blues will likely be without the centre back pairing that has helped the club keep their sheets clean on multiple occasions throughout the season.

'John [Terry] is not back. I think Cahill is out. He injured his calf against West Brom. He tried to train today but he didn't finish the training session in the best conditions. He is going for a scan to be sure if he can or he can't [play].'

Chelsea's third choice defender, David Luiz, is also one whose future remains ambiguous. Barcelona were linked with a £22m bid for the Brazilian prior to the mid-season transfer window and reportedly are still keen on acquiring the centre back.

There has been rumours that Mourinho is loathe to sell Luiz to the Camp Nou side due to his long-standing rivalry with the club he once worked for, as an aide to Sir Bobby Robson, but has since attracted the condescending 'translator' moniker by the Blaugrana.

Paris Saint Germain may have just provided Mourinho with a way to offload Luiz while also effectively denying Barca the purchase, as the Daily Mail report that: 'PSG will consider a bid for David Luiz this summer as interest mounts in the Brazilian.'

Bayern Munich are also said to be interested by the Stamford Bridge outfit apparently want £35m.

And finally, on the FA Cup in general, Mourinho said: 'The FA Cup is big and beautiful. It's beautiful for everybody. The draw helped make it even more beautiful because it opens a big space for the teams that don't normally win trophies.

'Two of the big teams will be out, in the quarter-final you will have only City or Chelsea, and Arsenal or Liverpool. The six other teams have a huge opportunity to go to Wembley. The draw puts things in a way where the final can be unexpected, and that's the beauty of the cup.'
