The Croatian midfielder is enjoying a great season with La Liga side Sevilla, and has subsequently attracted interest from some of the Premier League's biggest clubs. Rakitic, 25, did sign a new contract at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan earlier this month, but it's believed to contain a lower release clause fee that will allow the former Schalke man to leave in the summer.
Expected to star for Croatia at the World Cup, Rakitic has been heavily linked with a move to England, and will have boosted those interested teams by playing down rumours of a move to Sevilla's rivals Atletico Madrid, suggesting 'there is only one club'.
"It's needless to comment about Atletico because I have a contract with Sevilla and, as I said, I feel good here. I have great respect for Atletico but for me there is only one club – Sevilla,” said Rakitic.
"Currently there is nothing better than Sevilla and I do not think about anything. The talk about me is nice, but I do not care."
Sevilla's perilous financial situation means that Rakitic will almost certainly be sold this summer, but his affinity for the Andalusian club may rule Atletico out of the running by not wanting to play for another La Liga club.
With Chelsea looking for a long-term partner for Nemanja Matic, Liverpool seeking Steven Gerrard's eventual successor and Manchester United wanting anybody who can play in central midfield, Rakitic will be a hot commodity at the end of the season, and his comments on Atletico could be construed as a boost to all three sides – if they do choose to pursue his signature, yet it certainly doesn't make things easy for them.
