Brazilian: 'Finish my career in Manchester? Yes, anything is possible'

Fernandinho

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho says he could finish his career at the Etihad Stadium.

The Brazilian, who has linked up with Luiz Felipe Scolari's national squad this week, revealed that he is so pleased with how his move to City has gone, he may never leave the club.

Since moving to Manchester from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk last summer, Fernandinho has made 33 appearances for Manuel Pellegrini's side, scoring three goals and making three assists in the Premier League.

And the 28-year-old insists he fully believes in Man City's current "project," suggesting that they will go on to win more and more trophies under Pellegrini.

Sunday's Capital One Cup victory was a good start for Fernandinho and his team-mates, while there could be plenty more to come based on the Brazilian's latest comments.

“Finish my career in Manchester? Yes, anything is possible," Fernandinho told reporters.

“I am fine here, I have a four-year contract and I have no reason to think about anything else.

“I believe in this project and I believe that we will win important trophies.

“I have shown that I deserve to be a regular for City. The World Cup is my big goal. I want to convince Luiz Felipe Scolari by continuing to play well here and by winning trophies with City.”

City currently sit fourth in the Premier League table but with two games in hand over league-leaders Chelsea. Should they win both those fixtures, Pellegrini's side will likely overtake the Blues on goal difference.

And 28-year-old Fernandinho has been a major part of his side's success.
